Does your dark erotica have a happy ending?
I call my work dark erotica, because it seems to produce the best expectations in readers. I have seen some readers call my work erotic thrillers or suspense, even erotic horror, and that’s fine. But I think of it as romance, first and foremost. I always provide an HEA for my hero/heroine (or an happily-for-now situation, depending on your perspective). Basically, it’s up to a reader whether they think something is happy, but the emotional connection and commitment between my hero and heroine is a promise.
